BRIEF HISTORY OF SATAN
Job chapters 1 and 2;
Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:11-19;
Revelation chapters 12,
13, 19, 20
1. His original name was
Lucifer, Son of the Morning (Halayl ben Shachar in Hebrew, Lucifer
Huios Orthrinou in Greek).
2. He was a covering
Cherub (covering cherubs are God's "inner circle" of
angels, and cover the throne in worship)
3. He was beautiful and wise
4. His clothing was
covered in every precious stone
5. He walked around in
the stones of fire (one of the holiest places in heaven)
6. He convinced 1/3 of
the angels to join him in rebellion (trafficked in violence)
7. His great beauty and
brightness are said to have been the seeds of his pride, which lead
to his downfall
8. Satan lost his place
as a member of heaven, but still could travel up to heaven
9. Satan hatched a plot
to prevent the deliverer, he failed
10. In desperation, Satan
invaded heaven
11. Michael and the holy
angels (the other 2/3) fought against Satan and cast him out of
heaven for good
12. Satan, in anger,
tried to wipe out the Jews, but fails again
13. Seeing the complete
unraveling of his plans, and fully enraged now, he focuses on
persecuting believers
14. He raises up an
antichrist for his final shot at defeating God
15. He is defeated and
bound for a 1000 years
16. He is released for a
short period after a 1000 years, launches one final rebellion, is
defeated and cast into the lake of fire.
